Check out 12 Tips for Safe Cycling from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada. (Note: #1 (helmets), #7 (bells) and #9 (1 meter) are good practices but not laws in our region. 1 meter is approximately 3 feet. The Washington State Driver Guide advises that drivers "allow at least three feet of space when overtaking or passing a bicycle".
